Catch Bugs Mutations & Weather Events
Catch Bugs mutations are the fastest way to roll a higher rarity than your current zone normally spawns. Every Catch Bugs server cycles a global weather event roughly every 45 minutes, the event runs for about 5 minutes, and any bug caught during the window has a meaningful chance of rolling a mutation. This Catch Bugs mutations guide covers the cycle, the events we can verify, the matching lures, and how to actually use mutations to push for Zenith and Supreme bugs.
How mutations actually work
The mutation system is tied to the in-game weather. A weather event ticks over on the server, runs for a short window, then disappears until the next cycle. While that weather is active, every catch on every server has a roll for a mutation in addition to its base rarity roll.
Catch Bugs uses weather-driven mutations. Public sources (community videos and patch coverage) confirm the rough cadence and weights, but specific mutation names and multipliers are not fully published. Treat numeric values as needs_check until verified in-game.
Catch Bugs weather events we can verify
New weather events ship with most major updates, so the public list grows each patch. The events below are the ones we have confirmed in at least one public guide or video. The matching lure column tells you which lure to load before the weather hits.
Tips for grinding mutations
- Watch the on-screen weather indicator — start grinding the matching biome the second a weather event ticks over
- Pair the matching lure with the active event for stacked spawn pressure
- If you are chasing Zenith or Supreme bugs, save your Rune charges for the 5-minute weather window
Why mutations matter for Zenith and Supreme bugs
Zenith and Supreme rarities arrived in the April 2026 Desert update. Both sit above Celestial and only show up when you stack everything that increases your roll: a top-tier net, the matching Rune buff, the right lure, and the active weather event. If you skip the mutation window, you cut your odds of seeing Zenith or Supreme by a large margin — even with a Bone Net or a Dark Matter net.
Why exact mutation multipliers are still needs_check
Catch Bugs does not publish a mutation table. Community videos confirm the cycle and a few weather names, but the exact multiplier per mutation, the stacking behavior with the Rune system, and any zone-specific mutation lists are not documented in any public source. We will only add a mutation list once two or more independent sources agree on the numbers — until then we keep this section honest and short.
