Moon Hollow quest item for Madxcer's Crystal Lure path. Public data is community-wiki sourced, so exact spawn rate stays needs_check.
Mythical Desert target from the April 2026 expansion. Use Sandstorm Lure during sandstorm weather and bring Scorpion Net for strength.
Cave Mother is the highest verified rarity here; Colossal Sandworm and Solar Locust are high-value Mythical targets, then Secret Tomb Exotics.
Catch Bugs uses eight rarity tiers arranged from Common through Supreme. Each tier tells you three things at once: how often the bug spawns relative to others in the zone, how strong a net you need to catch it reliably, and what kind of passive income it generates in your vivarium. Understanding the tier system before you hunt saves time and prevents wasting endgame net charges on bugs that would not move your income.
| Rarity | Verified examples | Gameplay meaning | Net tier needed | Vivarium priority |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | Grasslands butterflies, beetles, ants | Spawns constantly in starter zones. Sell duplicates for early cash — do not slot in vivarium. | Starter Net or Fast Net | Low — sell, do not slot |
| Rare | Centipede Spider | Mid-tier spawn. Worth slotting in vivarium early, replace with Exotic when available. | Fast Net or Royal Net | Early filler — replace when possible |
| Exotic | Wasp Moth · Undead Scorpion · Thousand Scorpion · Blossomwing | Reliable vivarium income. Two are Secret Tomb exclusive. Wasp Moth is a Tomb key. | Royal Net or stronger | Good — keep in vivarium until Mythical slots open |
| Elusive | Crescent Wing Butterfly · Spiny Harvestman | Has a spawn condition — time gate or zone-specific trigger. Both are Secret Tomb keys. | Royal Net minimum; higher for faster catch rate | High — also required for Secret Tomb unlock |
| Mythical | Colossal Sandworm · Solar Locust | Top vivarium income before Celestial. Both require active weather events to find efficiently. | Bone Net (luck) or Scorpion Net (strength) | Very high — fill these slots before anything else |
| Celestial | Cave Mother | Highest confirmed rarity in the current verified database. Single best vivarium slot. | Demon Net or stronger | Top priority — one Celestial outperforms multiple Exotics |
| Zenith | April 2026 Desert — no verified species yet | Above Celestial. Added in the April 2026 Desert update. Requires stacking net + lure + Rune + weather event. | Dark Matter or Nuclear Net | Endgame — not yet in verified database |
| Supreme | April 2026 Desert — no verified species yet | Highest documented tier. Only possible with all four bonuses active simultaneously. | Dark Matter or Nuclear Net | Endgame — not yet in verified database |
Zenith and Supreme bugs were introduced in the April 2026 Desert update. No specific species names have been confirmed in any public guide — entries will be added once verified. Exact vivarium payout values are not published by the developer and are not included above.
The April 2026 Desert expansion added the Colossal Sandworm, a Mythical-rarity bug and the highest-value open-world spawn in Catch Bugs as of 2026-05. It spawns in the Desert zone during sandstorm weather events — use a Sandstorm Lure to maximise the chance. Because of its weight class, you need a Scorpion Net (250,000,000 cash, high strength + weight capacity) rather than the Bone Net to reliably capture it. Once caught, it is one of the best bugs to slot in the vivarium for endgame offline cash.
See the full Catch Bugs nets guide for the Scorpion Net cost and how it compares to the Bone Net.
The Secret Tomb unlocks when you are simultaneously carrying all three key bugs in your active inventory — not in the vivarium, not sold, but held at the same time — and then walk into the hidden tunnel in Dune Burrow. Here is the most efficient collection order, with timing notes for the hardest one.
The Wasp Moth is the easiest of the three to acquire because it spawns in Deeproot Caves with no time restriction. You can hunt it at any point in the in-game day cycle. Bring a Royal Net or stronger — the Exotic rarity catch rate improves significantly with luck above the Royal Net baseline. Catch one, hold it in your inventory (do not deposit it into the vivarium while running the other keys), and move on. If you catch extras, sell them — you only need one in hand at the time you walk into the Secret Tomb entrance.
The Spiny Harvestman spawns in Dune Burrow with no confirmed time gate — it can appear at any time of the in-game day. However, it is Elusive rarity, which means it spawns less frequently than Rare or Exotic species. Bring the highest-luck net you currently own: ideally a Scorpion Net (250M), but a strong mid-game net will work if that is where you are in progression. Keep the catch in your held inventory once you have it.
The Crescent Wing Butterfly is the hardest key bug to time because it has a hard spawn condition: it only appears after 6:30 PM in the in-game clock. Entering Moon Hollow before that time produces zero Crescent Wing Butterflies regardless of your net or lure. Enter Moon Hollow, watch the in-game clock, and wait through the day cycle until it passes 6:30 PM. Once the night cycle begins, start sweeping the area. Use the highest-luck net available — this is Elusive rarity, so spawn rate is lower than common or rare species even during the night window.
With all three bugs held simultaneously, travel to Dune Burrow and find the rocky tunnel between the Potion Traders and net shop area and the waterfall. Walk into it. If your inventory contains all three key bugs, the Secret Tomb entrance triggers and the zone opens. Inside you will find:

The Catch Bugs vivarium generates passive offline cash. Every slot earns based on the rarity of the bug inside it — higher rarity means more income per hour. Optimizing your vivarium slots is the most reliable way to accumulate the 200M–250M cash needed for the Bone Net and Scorpion Net without relying on codes. Here is the priority order using verified database bugs.
Cave Mother (Celestial, Deeproot Caves) is the highest-rarity verified bug in the database. A single Celestial slot outperforms two or three Exotic slots combined in long offline sessions, based on community player reports. Deeproot Caves is the only confirmed spawn location. This is your first-priority slot to fill once you can reach Deeproot Caves with a strong mid-game net.
Colossal Sandworm (Mythical, Desert) and Solar Locust (Mythical, open zones) are the two Mythical bugs in the database. Colossal Sandworm requires a Sandstorm event and the Scorpion Net to catch. Solar Locust is tied to Solar Events in Grasslands or Jewel Jungle. Fill Mythical slots after your Celestial slot is secured.
Undead Scorpion and Thousand Scorpion (both Exotic, Secret Tomb) are the most reliable Exotic-tier income bugs. Unlock the Secret Tomb to access both, then use them to fill remaining vivarium slots while you save for a stronger net. Replace these with Mythical or Celestial bugs as you find them.
Exact vivarium payout values are not published by the Catch Bugs developer and remain needs_check across all sources. Tier rankings above reflect rarity tier, which is the confirmed primary driver of vivarium income in community progression guides.
Once you have unlocked the Bone Net from Anpu inside the Secret Tomb, the approach to hunting Exotic, Elusive, Mythical, and Celestial species changes. The Bone Net's +1,877 luck advantage over the Scorpion Net is substantial enough to materially improve your catches-per-hour on high-rarity targets. Here is how to run it efficiently.
Use the Bone Net for anything rated Elusive, Mythical, or Celestial where the target is not classified as heavy. Use the Scorpion Net when the target requires high strength or weight capacity — specifically the Colossal Sandworm and any high-weight Desert bug. The Bone Net has lower strength than the Scorpion Net; a failed catch on a heavy bug wastes the spawn. Know your target's weight class before you commit to a net.
The peak rare-hunting window is: Bone Net + matching lure + active weather event. For Desert targets: Sandstorm Lure + Sandstorm event. For open zones (Solar Locust, Jewel Caterpillar): Solar Lure + Solar Event. For Secret Tomb runs: Sandstorm Lure at any time. Weather events last approximately 5 minutes and cycle every 45 minutes. Watch the on-screen weather indicator and position yourself in the correct biome with your lure equipped before the event begins — not after.
If you have active Rune charges from the April 2026 system, activate them the moment a weather event starts — not during regular off-cycle grinding. The Rune multiplier combined with the weather event's mutation chance is the highest-value catch scenario in the game. Spending Rune charges outside a weather window is consistently flagged in community guides as the biggest endgame resource mistake.
After you first unlock the Secret Tomb, you can re-enter at any time by carrying the three key bugs simultaneously again. Keep one Crescent Wing Butterfly, one Wasp Moth, and one Spiny Harvestman in your held inventory during endgame grinding sessions so you can drop into the Tomb on demand for Undead Scorpion and Thousand Scorpion catches without an additional key-collection run.
Every entry on this Catch Bugs bug list points back to a public source: a guide article, a community video or RoUniverse review. When two or more sources agree on the same Catch Bugs species, location and rarity, we mark it verified. When only one source mentions it, we keep it as needs_check until it is confirmed in-game.
We do not invent bug stats. The full Catch Bugs Bugdex of 300+ species will only appear on this Catch Bugs bug list as each entry is verified — that is also why sell values are mostly empty for now.
